Ornamental Simulated Wood

Use this 3-part SimpleSpecs specification template to specify ornamental simulated wood; plastic simulated wood components, including guard rails, trim, moldings, columns, shutters, vents, louvers, and other components.

What is it?

Real wood is wood taken from trees and used in construction or other applications. It is a natural product that can vary in color, grain pattern, and other characteristics depending on the species of tree it comes from.

Also known as engineered wood.  It is a man-made product designed to mimic the appearance of real wood. Made from a combination of materials, such as particle board, veneers, and plastic resins. It may be more consistent in color and pattern than real wood, but it does not have the same structural properties as real wood. It is often used as a cheaper alternative to real wood.
