Parking Control Equipment
Use this 3-part specification template to specify parking control equipment for parking garages and parking areas, including gates, ticket dispensers, pay stations, and related accessories.
This section includes commonly used equipment used to control access to and egress from a parking lot or parking garage.
Control systems are also available that can monitor the availability of spaces, allow access by RFID, and perform other activities. These systems are not included in this section but can be added.
Entrance gate opening can be controlled by a card reader, ticket dispenser, or attendant. Closing is typically controlled by a timer or buried loop with a vehicle detector.
Exit gate opening can be controlled by card reader, buried loop with vehicle detector, or attendant. Closing is typically controlled by a timer or buried loop with a vehicle detector.
Heavy-duty gates and gates with longer arms are available for industrial facilities and facilities requiring higher security.
Card readers can be specified here or in Division 28 – Electronic Safety and Security as a part of a security system.
In cold climates, parking controls should include heaters to prevent freezing.
