Utilize this section to specify cold-formed metal framing for wall, floor, and roof framing consisting of studs and channels.

Cold-formed framing is roll-formed from a steel sheet. These components can be field cut using portable saws and hand tools and are assembled by mechanical fastening or welding. Wall framing can consist of non-axially load-bearing or axially-load bearing framing.

Non-axially load-bearing wall framing is typically used for exterior behind masonry veneer, plaster, siding, or other materials. Axially load-bearing wall framing is used to frame low-rise structures in lieu of traditional wood framing. Joist framing can be used for floor or roof framing.
